After leaving the Glacier National Park we headed over to Idaho where we’ve never been and did a little touring.
We we saw beatiful mountains and trees, rivers and lakes as well as boring desert and desolation.
We stayed in the Kalispell, MT Cabela’s for the first night and picked up my Aria/Fitbit scale and got that working.
Drove to Coeur d’Alene, ID next. Checked out a few spots along the way. Had ice cream and did some window shopping in downtown Coeur d’Alene and bought some fruits, veggies and tomato/basil goat cheese at the farmers market.
Headed over to the Camping World in Spokane, WA which is practically attached to Coeur d’Alene, ID. Put the Enterprise in to space dock (Camping World) for the day to effect repairs ( Just an oil change and time for a generator checkup). I was hoping to get the main deflector shield repaired (the one hit by flying space debris that left a gouge in the windshield – er – deflector shield), but Camping World doesn’t do windows.
We also visited an RV show in Spokane. It was a very small show, but I think we’re ready to upgrade to a bigger, newer, fancier rig! Some of those RV’s are slick.
There is a lot to do in this area, especially if you like watersports with huge Lake Coeur d’Alene extending to the mountains. And some really nice looking cabins in the mountains along the lake(s).
We stayed in a huge, stand alone Cabela’s on the WA/ID border. They had RV parking setup, temporary dog kennels, a horse corral if you needed one and a dump station. The “greeter” in Cabela’s told me it was all free and we were welcome to stay a few days… we stayed two.
After touring the area, taking scenic drives around Lake Coeur d’Alene and several other lakes in the nearby mountains we headed to Clarkston/Lewiston on the Snake River.
We took a day here to relax a little, do laundry and repair small items on the Enterprise (installed new handle on screen door, fixed door latch, re-mounted power cable reel – this time with no screw protruding through the floor of my bedroom- replaced the windshield washer fluid with bug gut cleaner fluid – doesn’t seem to really work – and several other odds and ends to try and keep the Enterprise in tip-top shape.
Next on to Stanley, ID. We’d heard this is a beautiful place and it is. A small town of 63 (yep 6–3), but fairly busy. They have outfitters for rafting, kayaking, hiking, biking etc. We spent one full day there and visited Redfish Resort and Stanley lake.
A peek of Redfish lake from along our 5 mile hike.
A couple of the teeth in the sawtooth mountain range.
Stanley Lake.
The Sawtooth mountain range is impressive if you get a look at the right angle and location. My pics here are not at the best location, google some pictures an you’ll see some great shots (Like this).
We swung by Sun Valley on the way out. Sun Valley is a resort (not a town) in the town of Ketchum. It is such a big resort that it acts like a town. Ketchum/Sun Valley is a nice little tourist town. Flowing with money. Apparently it is much busier in winter, but it was fairly packed while we were there.
We are working our way over to Yellowstone and checking out places along the way. We saw some info on Craters of the Moon and think we should pay a visit to this National Monument.
