Seismic Saves The Day

Yes!  Finally!  If you saw this weeks episode of Curse of Oak Island you are probably as excited as I am.  I’ve been yelling at the TV for 2 years now, “You guys need to shoot some 3D seismic up there!”  Finally they heard me.  Looks like they shot a few nice, tight grid surveys focused on shallow objectives…

And the results looked pretty compelling (If you look closely you might see a Templar cross in the seismic map… 😉 ).  Now they have three solid targets to drill.  We’ll find out if that “Interpreter” knows what he’s talking about pretty soon…  I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t display the data in a 3D cube. What software were they using anyway? … boring…  Where’s the 3D visualization?  Total immersion would have been the right thing to do.  🙂

And where’s Benjamin Franklin Gates when you need him?

We were so close to Oak Island while in Maine. I’m bummed we didn’t make the trip… maybe next year.  They definitely need my seismic data management skills on their team now.  If any of you have high level contacts with those guys tell them I’d work for them gratis… pass along my name… :-O

While in Traverse City, Tina flirted with the chocolate fudge making dudes (they weren’t even wearing hair nets on their legs)!  After scratching his hairy leg with that spatula he used it to spread out the fudge on the marble table… Fortunately all my free samples were from a previous batch.  I ate enough freebies so I didn’t need to buy anything.

I sat all alone on the freezing cold beach of Grand Traverse Bay.

But, more importantly,  we also drove up the peninsula to the Old Mission Lighthouse.

That’s a neat place.  You can volunteer to work there, I think it was two weeks at a time.  You live onsite for two straight weeks sleeping in the backroom of this building.

HOWEVER, while driving up Hwy 37 to the lighthouse we saw this:

If you look closely at that sign on the road you may recognize it. We drove  several miles down the road before I realized where I’d seen that logo.

This is the same logo you see on Marty Lagina’s shirt in just about every episode of Curse of Oak Island…

We had stumbled upon his other venture, the Mari Vinyards.  If I’d have figured it out sooner I would have stopped to get Marty’s autograph, or begged for a job digging treasure on Oak Island!

You just never know how close to fame and fortune you are at any given time! ;-O
