I was standing on the back porch looking across the park, watching the storm blow through about an hour ago. It was really coming down, wind was crazy and I could touch the lightning (but that would be dumb)! I was just going back in the house to get my phone so I could get some pictures when in the distance, across the park I saw what looked like a scene from a sci-fi, dinosaur movie. You know that scene where you see some trees in the distance start to shake violently then, BOOM! T-Rex comes barreling out of the trees. It was just like that.
I could barely see across the park due to all the rain, but I could see the treetops and one caught my eye because it was shaking more violently than the others. I watched for just a second and then, louder than the pouring rain, louder than the wind and thunder, I heard a huge CRACK!… Then the treetop disappeared… Then a huge THUD!! That tree was down in a split second. It was amazing.
We’re in-between storm waves so I took the dog to go see the tree. It’s a good 60 footer or more!
Here are a couple of pics of the aftermath! Glad I wasn’t out walking the dog on that trail when this came down!
