I’m Eric, and this is my RV travel blog.

After being inspired to try the long term, RV travel lifestyle (by folks like gonewiththewynns.com and several others), I talked my wife into buying a small, Class C motor-home.  Of course, the salesman convinced me we’d be much happier in a big ‘ole Class A.  No, it wasn’t ’cause he’d make more money on the sale, he was genuinely concerned about my happiness.  YES he was… Sooo, we bought the 2014 Jayco Precept 31UL in Oct of 2014.  The salesman was right,  I really do like the big dog better (We’d rented a class C before – it was fine, this is better)!

For the next year or two we’d planned to spend all our vacation days traveling in our new RV to fun places around the US.

However, fate stepped in and dealt a devastating blow to our plans (ooh… sounds dramatic huh?).  As it would happen, 6 months after the big purchase I was summarily dismissed from my oil company job.  Can you believe that!?  An indispensable person like me?!  As HR walked me out of the building for the final time, I was overcome with emotion  (Joy! Cheer! Elation! Delight! Happiness!  As well as Jubilance with a touch of Freedom mixed in! ).  If I wouldn’t have been laid off I might have kept working for years!  Instead, now I’m taking a 1-2 year hiatus and going to try this RV lifestyle thing out full-time, or almost full-time, or … I don’t really know yet, we’ll play it by ear.

Follow along and find out how it all ends up.

Eric–
